Whether I like it or not... I simply cannot cease to believe the amount of money that is being spent on the educational system and the myriad of different kinds of programmes available to students in the educational system here. Its not wonder that we (Indians) cannot produce gold medalists. We simply don't think outside the box and don't want to give money to anything apart from cricket. Sports is such an integral part of the society here. Everyone goes out to play some game or the other that always helps them to follow dreams that each student may aspire to. I am astonished at the opportunities. The fact that as a student many of them don't even realise or see the potential that is given to them is not at all a surprise to me. When the whole country lives in the 1.7 percent of the world's richest, it only goes to show that there so much wealth here and its been distributed to everyone properly. Its amazing.

Right outside the Adelaide Uni City Campus... Beach Volleyball
Ok, so let me not go on and rave about the various systems and drawbacks in this system. I want to show you one of the programmes that SAASTA (South Australian Aboriginal Sports Training Association) is undertaking for students who are the original inhabitants of this land. Yes; they have sports programmes that give opportunities unlike any other that one can dream or think of.

Volleyball courts right in the middle of the city
Did I tell you that the City of Adelaide has a Beach Volleyball court right in the middle of the city. Yes!! In the middle of the city. They've just trucked over like a huge amount of lovely beach sand to play on right in the middle of the city and with the temperatures just reaching mid 20's its perfect for that lovely afternoon game.

SAASTA kids playing games
I had the opportunity to go to the volleyball workshop for these kids that was conducted by one of the top coaches in Australia. Yes, one of the best coaches... What amazed me was that such people were willing to give their time to help and assist the future generations that are coming up in the country. How many of our professional coaches will go out and sit with upcoming players or just completely new players. They taught the game from ground level. That was the beauty of this workshop. Its started from scratch. One should never underestimate the potential of a person who just has never been given a chance. One has to understand that such workshops are from where we would potentially find another Satchin Tendulkar. But we just don't seem to want to give our children the opportunity.

Teachers/Coaches/Staff vs the SAASTA children
The whole day came to an end when the kids had a go against their PE teachers and coaches. What a finale... I have to admit the food was just lovely as well. Open BBQ with sizzling sausages and steak too. :P Yum.... (No pics sorry... Was too busy eating. ;) )
